Welcome message

Sadia Haq, M.Ed
Founder & Head of School
It is with deep gratitude and excitement that I welcome you to Pathways Academy at Al Hedayah.
As a founding leader of Pathways Academy at Al Hedayah and an educator with more than 25 years of experience in education, including over 15 years in campus leadership within both Islamic and public school settings, this school represents not only a professional vision, but also a very personal one for me.
I was born and raised in Arlington, Texas and graduated from The Oakridge School before earning my Bachelor's Degree and Texas Teaching Certification from The University of Texas at Arlington, followed by a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. Over the years, I have served in a variety of educational leadership roles including K–12 principalship, Montessori education, instructional leadership, curriculum development, teacher coaching, and college and career readiness initiatives. Throughout my career, I have remained passionate about building learning environments where children are academically challenged, emotionally supported, and grounded in strong character and faith.
My husband, Ijaz Haq, and I raised our four children here in the Arlington community. During their early years, our children were blessed to attend a wonderful Islamic school environment that helped nurture a strong foundation of faith, character, and learning. However, once that program ended after sixth grade, we found ourselves facing the same challenge many Muslim parents experience: finding middle school and high school environments that reflected both our educational expectations and our values as a Muslim family. We wanted our children to continue growing academically while also developing confidence in their identity, meaningful relationships, strong mentorship, and a sincere understanding and love of Islam.
Like many parents, we worked hard to fill those gaps through intentional parenting, mentorship, community involvement, extracurricular opportunities, and open conversations at home. Looking back now, I feel deeply grateful for the people my children have become. While each has pursued different paths in business, medicine, technology, athletics, and higher education, what matters most to me is that they have grown into Allah-conscious young adults who understand their purpose, value their faith, and strive to contribute positively to the world around them.
That experience as both an educator and parent helped shape the vision for Pathways Academy at Al Hedayah.
My hope is that Pathways becomes a place where children are nurtured from their earliest years in an environment intentionally designed to support their intellectual curiosity, emotional well-being, spiritual identity, creativity, confidence, and love of learning. A place where students are not only academically prepared, but deeply rooted in faith, secure in who they are, and equipped to pursue their passions with excellence and purpose for the sake of Allah.
Now, as a grandmother, this vision has become even more meaningful to me. I hope Pathways Academy at Al Hedayah becomes a place where future generations of Muslim children are known, supported, challenged, inspired, and prepared to lead lives of purpose, service, and impact.
Thank you for being part of this journey. We are honored to partner with families in building a school community rooted in faith, guided by purpose, and committed to nurturing the next generation with care, excellence, and intention.
Warmly,
Sadia Haq — Founder & Head of School

Our Curriculum

At Pathways Academy at Al Hedayah, we believe every child's educational journey should be guided with purpose and care. Our approach combines strong academics, character development, and individualized learning experiences that nurture both the mind and heart. Through ongoing assessment and observation, we seek to understand each student deeply and support their unique pathway toward growth and confidence.

Our classrooms are intentionally designed to foster independence, curiosity, focus, accountability, and responsibility. Students learn through hands-on experiences, creativity, movement, and meaningful engagement rather than passive instruction. Each environment is carefully prepared to encourage confidence, self-discipline, and a love of learning.

Our early childhood classrooms are intentionally screen free because we believe the formative years should be rooted in human connection, creativity, movement, and real-world exploration. Research continues to show that excessive screen exposure at a young age can negatively impact attention, language development, emotional regulation, and social growth. Instead, our youngest learners engage through books, hands-on materials, imaginative play, and meaningful discovery.

We recognize that every child learns differently and develops at their own pace. Through regular assessments, observation, and intentional data collection, we tailor instruction to support each student's academic, emotional, and developmental growth. Our goal is to ensure every child is truly seen, supported, and equipped to succeed.

Nature is an important part of the learning experience at Pathways Academy at Al Hedayah. Students use the natural world to explore scientific concepts, reflect on the signs of Allah's creation, and strengthen observation and critical thinking skills. Whether through outdoor lessons, gardening, or learning in fresh air, nature provides opportunities for wonder and meaningful connection.

We believe student work should reflect creativity, growth, effort, and authentic learning. Our gallery showcases projects, writing, artwork, and hands-on activities that highlight the meaningful experiences taking place throughout our classrooms. These pieces tell the story of students developing confidence, curiosity, and pride in their learning journey.

Our Video Insights section offers families a closer look into the philosophy, classrooms, and daily experiences that shape Pathways Academy at Al Hedayah. Through classroom highlights and educator reflections, parents can better understand the intentionality behind our approach. These videos provide a window into the culture, values, and vision that guide our school community.

Faith is woven into the foundation of learning at Pathways Academy at Al Hedayah. Our Arabic, Islamic Studies, Quran, and Islamic History programs help students build a strong connection to their faith through understanding, reflection, and character development. In place of a traditional social studies curriculum commonly found in non-Islamic educational environments, students explore history through the lens of Islamic civilizations, influential Muslim figures, and Muslim societies throughout the world.
